Greening State Procurement

Discover state departments' progress to buy Environmentally Preferable Purchasing (EPP) goods and services. EPP purchases enhance energy, water efficiency and promote natural resource conservation. Departments are encouraged to track purchases to measure progress in meeting waste diversion and greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction goals outlined in Executive Order B-18-12.

STATEWIDE EPP PROGRESS BY FISCAL YEARS

Statewide EPP Spend varies years by year. The chart shows the percent of EPP Reported Purchases for previous 3 fiscal years. Data Table 1

This graph represents the state’s progress towards increasing EPP Spend. Departments can look to DGS EPP designated contracts for green commodities, DGS purchasing standards and recognize third-party certifications in their solicitations to achieve a green buy. To access these documents go to the Buying Green Guide.

Departments had an opportunity to procure these same goods and services through an EPP compliant statewide commodity contract that will assist in increasing their goals. Look to the Buying Green Guide to find these goods and services contracts.

Buying Goods made with post-consumer recycle content (PCRC) aid waste diversion. This graph represents the percent of state buys compliant with State Agency Buy Recycle Campaign (SABRC) minimum requirements. DGS offers green disposable food service supplies contracts such as plates, bowls, trays, and containers that can be found on Buying Green Guide under Food.

PERCENT SABRC COMPLIANT SPENDING BY FISCAL YEAR 20/21
In fiscal year 2020 – 2021, there was a total of $282,626,240 SABRC reportable dollars. Metal products had the highest SABRC compliant spending rates at 95%, followed by compost and mulch at 93%. Data Table 4
